BILL
BRUFORD / MICHIEL BORSTLAP |
|||
One of the most innovative and progressive rock drummers from the heyday of the early 70sboth with Yes and King CrimsonBill Bruford released a most impressive album at the end of 2007 with Dutch keyboardist Michiel Borstlap. Aptly entitled In Two Minds, the 12 track CD echoes Brufords two acclaimed drum / keyboard albums with one time Yes keyboardist Patrick Moraz. A masterful set of wildly improvisational instrumental tracks, In Two Minds combines Brufords patented percussion sounds with Borstlap driving the rhythms with a neoclassical jazz approach combining grand piano and tasteful ambient keyboard electronica. Commenting on In Two Minds Bruford adds, This 12-track CD was recorded at concerts in Kristiansand and Trondheim in Norway, and Gateshead and Bath in the UK. Audience noise and applause has been removed. What you hear is about as true to the original performance as it is possible to get. An excellent sounding CD capturing a full dynamic range, In Two Minds will pick up the ears of jazzers and open minded King Crimson fans as well. Further commenting on In Two Minds Bruford adds, More importantly, it is the figment of two imaginations at full stretch, and the product of two minds which are trying hard to persuade their owners they have never played music before, and they are really just two kids in a great big sonic sandpit. We like it like that, and hope you do too. www.billbruford.com |
