Primed
by the U.K. rock intelligentsia, the full wrath and fury of the Jimi
Hendrix Experience was unleashed at their American debut at the Monterey
Pop Festival on June 18, 1967. Introduced at Monterey 67 by
the late great Brian Jones, Jimis performance that night proved
a veritable stepping stone as it situated Hendrix center stage till
his untimely and ironic death in London in late 71. Released
by Experience Hendrix on DVD in October 2007, The Jimi Hendrix
Experience Live At Monterey is everything Hendrix fans could wish
for and more. Presenting all of the existing film footage of Jimis
Monterey performance in its original sequence, the film was transferred
to hi-def specs with new 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo mixes by Eddie
Kramer. Multiple camera angles, two new video documentaries and live
clips of the earliest Experience performances, from February 67
are also included in the DVD as are new liner notes by Mitch Mitchell
and rare photos and assorted memorabilia. For audio purists, The
Jimi Hendrix Experience Live At Monterey also comes on CD and
black vinyl. www.authentichendrix.com
