Based
out in L.A., Resonance Records are setting a new standard in modern,
instrumental jazz on CD and DVD. The label has a number of solid releases
including a splendid 2008 CD from famed pianist Mike Garson, entitled
Conversations With My Family. Garson has played his outstanding
grand piano for David Bowie for over 35 years and he was first appreciated
by Bowie fans for his scintillating piano work on Aladdin Sane
in 73. Garsons 2008 CD for Resonance features 22 new originals
that create a wild, orchestral jazz fusion panorama of sounds. Described
as a different kind of chill-out record, Conversations
also pairs Garson with some fine players including Gary Novak
on drums. Like all Resonance releases, Mikes CD also features
excellent packaging, a detailed CD booklet plus an accompanying DVD
that captures a live in concert set from May 7, 2006 with Garson and
his band, including drummer Peter Erskine. www.ResonanceRecords.org
