Back
in the 60s, Bob Lind was a renowned folk-poet and singer/songwriter
genius who was notably produced by the late great studio wizard Jack
Nitzsche. Linds early 90s American best of CD release
on Capitol / EMI has long been out of print so its cool that
over in the U.K. the Ace Records offshoot Big Beat has compiled a
25 track best of by Bob Lind entitled Elusive Butterfly - The Complete
Jack Nitzsche Sessions. As the CD proves, Linds huge Top
ten hit from late 65, Elusive Butterfly was a hard
act to follow. Linds 25 track Big Beat U.K. compilation pretty
much mirrors the out of print U.S. pressing while Big Beat packs the
CD booklet with sixteen pages of fascinating liner notes from April
2007 chronicling Linds all too brief career as a fleeting star.
As the liner notes indicate, Lind made a recent comeback with the
September 2005 recording and subsequent CD release of Bob Lind
Live At The Luna Star Café. These days Lind
resides in South Florida and his live from Florida CD is a welcome
glimpse into some timeless music by one of the great folk-rock poets
of the 60s. www.boblind.com
