Backed
up by a solid support bandincluding Tim Landers (bass),
Tal Bergman (drums), Ron Powell (percussion) and Les
Portelli (piano)L.A. based guitarist Brian Hughes does what
he does best in a live setting on his 2007 in concert CD. One of the
top guitarists on the contemporary instrumental jazz fusion scene,
Hughes has recorded a number of solo albums over the last ten yearsas
well as supplying guitar and production work for renowned singer Loreena
McKennitt and backing The Chieftains on several tours. At the heart
of the Hughes sound is his love of modern jazz guitar icons such as
Wes Montgomery, George Benson and Pat Metheny. Commenting on taking
his group on the road, Hughes adds, We try to get out on the
road as much as possible but frankly it is not as much as I would
like. Playing live is my favorite thing and I wish we could tour more
often. Putting his own spin on the sound of the masters and
contemporary guitar favorites alike, Brian Hughes comes up a winner
with the all instrumental, electric guitar fusion sound of Live.
