Armed with a killer title track, also the album’s single, the CD release of Here Is What Is is the best solo CD yet by singer-songwriter, guitarist / producer Daniel Lanois. Famous for his works with Brian Eno, and their collective production of famed rockers U2, Lanois is at his best as a solo artist and with a host of great players he’s put together an amazing new kind of music. For an approximation of Here Is What Is, imagine a U2 style guitar attack featuring a sensitive voice such as Leonard Cohen singing. It’s just that good. A master electric guitarist and steel guitarist with a great ear for production, Lanois layers his melodic rock tracks and occasional instrumental with a multitude of steel guitar-treated ambient sounds and effects that often boggle the senses.
