Using
the proverbial no frills club sound check / rehearsal instead of a
noisy club date as the basis for a new live performance DVD series
over in the U.K. sounds like a really good idea, and for the most
part on this DVD, it is. On Eagles 2009 From The Basement
DVD, cutting edge 90s and beyond bands such as Beck, the
Eels, Radiohead, Albert Hammond Jr., Super Furry Animals, Sonic Youth,
José González, Thom Yorke, The White Stripes and more
rock on down in a London basement with each
portrayed
in an intimate setting that focuses on getting a live performance
right. Running over two hours, From The Basement offers a fine
cross section of today's modern pop-rock bands as they appear in 2009.
As the artwork on the DVD claims No host, no studio audience,
instead the artist and their performance take center stage.
From the looks of this in progress TV show at their web site theres
plenty more to come down in the basement. Watching Super Furry Animals
playing The Gift That Keeps On Giving down in the
basement is a definite highlight of this first DVD of hopefully more
to come. www.EagleRockEnt.com
