Although
he left the planet way too soon in January 2005, the late great Jim
Capaldi
will always be remembered for his superb singing, songwriting and
his underrated drumming. Honoring Capaldis one of a kind contribution
as a founding member of Traffic as well as a solo artist, some of
his most famous friends and associates got together in London on January
21, 2007 to celebrate the music of Jim Capaldi and Traffic. Marking
the occasion, Steve Winwood and his band, including Brazilian
guitar ace Jose Neto were on hand and the superstar event also
featured showcase performances by Pete Townshend, Joe Walsh,
Gary Moore, Cat Stevens, Bill Wyman of The Stones,
Jon Lord, sax hero Mark Rivera and much more. Kicking
off the 2007 DVD / CD release of Dear Mr. Fantasy - A Celebration
For Jim Capaldi is a memorable cover of the first Traffic single,
Paper Sun by Paul Weller. A key member of the mod
rock band, The Jam, Weller nearly steals the show with his rollicking,
heartfelt version of the first Traffic hit and he likewise does a
fine job on a cover of another 67 Traffic classic, Here
We Go Round The Mulberry Bush. Truly a festival in praise Capaldis
